Deep crier, professional bed unmaker, and defender of bugs that accidentally get in the house—
Bex Olesek has been having a love affair with creating since she was an infant and first discovered she could shove paper in her mouth. She built cities out of empty toilet paper rolls on the kitchen floor and made a habit of staying up all night to paint on whatever flat surface she could find. At 28, she is a published poet, illustrator, fine artist, curator, educator, and more. She is passionate about working to tell better stories, and emulates the wonder and adventure of her younger self in this while working on projects of all kinds. She completed her BFA at Lipscomb University in Studio Art, where she also served as Gallery Director and Curator for Open Gallery, located in Nashville’s growing Arts District. She has had the pleasure of working with artists all over the Nashville area, including Dolly Parton’s very own costume department. She served as Gallery Installation Lead for the exhibition Dolly Parton and the Makers: My Life in Rhinestones in 2023.
Her experience spans illustration, graphic design, book interior and cover design, installation, exhibition, curation, and so much more.
